Healing with Poetry and Journaling with Leslie McGraw

  • Ann Arbor District Library Westgate 2503 Jackson Avenue Ann Arbor, MI, 48103 United States (map)

Join poet and presenter Leslie McGraw on Saturday, October 15, 2022 for a 1.5 hour workshop and learn about various journaling techniques, how to mine journals for patterns, poems, and stories, how to review poems for connection (as opposed to scholarly review), and engage in a couple of guided reflections.

Leslie McGraw is a poet, digital media activist, and creative inspiration and emcee of the Bookbound Open Mic & Share Poetry Series (2013-2020) and Life By Poetry online community (www.life poetry.tumblr.com). Her essay, “Roses Come in Black, Too” was published in the As/Us Women of the World Journal. Her debut poetry collection, Emergencies of the Heart, was published in 2014 and we are pleased to announce that a 2nd edition, dedicated to the 267 black lives lost on 9-11, will be forthcoming in August, 2022 by Black Muse Publishing. Recently, Leslie was chosen as one of five poets across the nation for the 2022 Black Fire This Time Summer Fellowship by Willow Books in Detroit, Michigan (https://willowlit.net/black-fire-this-time-2021/).
